Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering
  • Strong understanding of data lake, data warehousing, data modeling
  • Strong SQL skills
  • Strong experience with Python
  • Experience with healthcare data
  • Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, Columnar databases
  • Knowledge of data processing and ETL tools such as Airflow or Talend, and understand the tradeoffs of them
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms such as AWS (or Google Cloud, or Azure)
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to be self-directed and work autonomously, as well as being part of a collaborative team

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain data pipelines to meet business needs
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and ensure data quality
  • Implement scalable data storage and processing systems capable of handling large datasets
  • Develop and maintain data pipelines for ingesting data from various sources and ensuring proper data formatting for analysis
  • Create and maintain data models, dictionaries, and metadata
  • Work closely with data scientists and analysts to understand their data needs and ensure alignment with data systems
  • Document data systems, processes, and procedures
  • Implement data quality control processes to validate and clean data prior to analysis
  • Design and implement security measures to protect sensitive data and ensure data privacy
  • Optimize data systems for performance and scalability to support organizational growth
  • Stay updated with the latest tools and technologies in data engineering to meet the organization's evolving data requirements
