Remote Data Engineer

Summary

Wattpad is seeking an Intermediate Data Engineer to join their data-driven team. The role involves designing, developing, and maintaining data infrastructure, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and transforming raw data into actionable insights. The ideal candidate has 3+ years of relevant experience, proficiency in SQL and a programming language, strong data modeling skills, and familiarity with ETL tools and data warehousing technologies.

Requirements

• 3+ years of relevant experience in data engineering, analytics, or a similar role
• Proven proficiency in SQL and at least one programming language (e.g., Python, R)
• Strong experience in Data Modeling, ETL tools (e.g., dbt) and data warehousing technologies (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery)

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and optimize data pipelines to transform large and diverse datasets from various sources
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of our data warehouse, ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and availability
• Implement and refine Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes with a focus on Transformations
• Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to prepare data that help build meaningful insight for product and business
• Monitor and improve the performance and scalability of data pipelines and warehouse infrastructure
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of data models, pipelines, and processes for effective knowledge transfer

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Looker) is a plus
