Summary

Join SEON, a leading fraud prevention company, as their Data Engineering Lead/Manager. You will lead and mentor a team of data engineers and analysts, overseeing the development and optimization of SEON’s data infrastructure. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data accessibility, accuracy, and actionability. Your leadership will directly impact SEON’s innovation, scalability, and ability to deliver critical insights. You will define and execute SEON’s data strategy, establish best practices, and ensure data governance and compliance. This role requires significant experience in data engineering, team leadership, and communication.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering with a focus on data engineering or related disciplines
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience leading and managing data engineering teams, with a proven track record of delivering complex data solutions
  • Expertise in SQL, data modeling, and building data pipelines, along with familiarity with cloud data platforms like Snowflake, PostgreSQL, Clickhouse, or Elasticsearch
  • Strong understanding of data governance, security best practices, and compliance frameworks like GDPR and CCPA
  • Proven experience managing data infrastructure and distributed systems with a focus on performance, scalability, and reliability
  • Familiarity with modern data stack technologies, such as AWS Glue, dbt,, Apache Kafka, and Databricks
  • Leadership experience in fostering high-performing teams, mentoring engineers, and driving team collaboration
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of articulating complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • Manage and mentor a growing team of data engineers, guiding their career development and helping them excel in delivering data-driven solutions across the organization
  • Oversee the design, development, and optimization of scalable data pipelines to support our fraud prevention platform and advanced analytics
  • Work with senior leadership to define and execute SEON’s data strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals and helping the organization leverage data effectively
  • Work closely with engineering, product, and business teams to ensure data is accessible, consistent, and actionable for business intelligence, reporting, and customer-facing solutions
  • Establish and enforce best practices in data engineering, including data modeling, pipeline optimization, and system reliability. Define service-level agreements (SLAs) for data processes and ensure high availability
  • Implement and enforce data governance policies to ensure data privacy, security, and compliance with regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA)
  • Stay on top of industry trends and evaluate emerging technologies that can improve data infrastructure and enable innovative features, including AI/ML
  • Design and optimize systems to scale as SEON continues to grow, ensuring that data pipelines are efficient and robust enough to handle billions of transactions
  • Provide technical leadership across multiple teams and act as a key point of contact for data-related initiatives. Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to drive data-driven decision-making

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AI/ML: Hands-on experience with integrating machine learning models into data pipelines or leveraging machine learning to drive business outcomes
  • Real-Time Data: Expertise in building real-time data processing systems, such as streaming data pipelines with tools like Apache Kafka, Apache Flink, or Kinesis
  • DevOps Knowledge: Familiarity with Kubernetes, ELK Stack, Prometheus, and other DevOps tools
  • Large-Scale Migrations: Experience managing large-scale data migrations, ensuring data integrity and minimal disruption
