We're seeking a Data Modeler to support the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) by disseminating data to researchers. As a team member, you'll perform data modeling, database design, and development on a relational database system.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in management information systems, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or a related Information Technology area
  • At least 3 years of experience in industry-standard data modelling methodologies
  • Excellent consultative, facilitative, and consensus-building abilities
  • Proven expertise in developing relational databases in a corporate context
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing models for Business Intelligence solutions
  • Excellent analytical, data profiling, and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent oral and written communication abilities
  • Advanced Python or SQL knowledge
  • Thorough understanding of modelling methodology and procedures
  • Thorough understanding of facilitation and dispute resolution methods
  • Knowledge of Business Intelligence products
  • Experience with Oracle and Snowflake database platforms

Responsibilities

  • Be on a team that is supporting the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) by disseminating data to researchers who are studying ways to improve the quality and reduce the cost of care provided to chronically ill Medicare beneficiaries
  • Perform data modeling, database design, database development on a relation database system
  • Analyze customer requirements and provide database centric solutions to a wide range of problems, where applicable
  • Work closely with developers to understand the database needs and provide recommendations which are scalable and perform well
  • Develop views, stored procedures, functions, triggers, and other database objects as needed
  • Maintain naming standards in the database and be the sole point of contact for all things database in the project
  • Work in a fast-paced Agile environment
  • Help with data analysis, ad hoc data extracts and data requests
