Database Administrator

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience as a Database Administrator with MySQL
• Experience with other RDBMs platforms
• Experience with NoSQL databases
• Experience of Amazon AWS
• Knowledge of DevOps and IaC tools and methodologies, e.g. Terraform
• Experience with CI/CD technologies
• Experience with scripting languages (e.g. Bash, Python, etc)
• Ability to prioritize and cope with last-minute changes while under pressure
• Excellent oral and written English communication skills

Responsibilities

• Manage Database Servers: Oversee database servers to ensure optimal performance and uptime
• Database Maintenance and Updates: support the design, implementation, and updating of database systems, including system upgrades
• Ensure Data Integrity: perform massive uploads and updates of data if / when required
• Performance Tuning: monitor and optimize database performance
• Backup and Recovery: develop and manage backup and recovery strategies to protect data against loss or corruption
• Regularly document the technical choices and procedures
• Troubleshooting and Support: diagnose and resolve database issues, providing support to internal teams as needed
• Scalability Planning: plan and implement strategies to ensure the scalability of database systems in line with business growth
• Collaboration and Communication: work closely with data architects, data engineers, data scientists, and other stakeholders to support data-driven initiatives and communicate effectively
