Database Engineer

Summary

The job is for an Experienced Database Engineer at Stytch, a user authentication platform. The role involves working in a collaborative environment, solving problems pragmatically, building products that make developers' lives easier, shaping the culture and growing the team, learning new skills and technologies, and designing and building highly reliable systems at scale. The expected base salary is $175,000 - $225,000.

Requirements

• 5+ years as a database, infrastructure, or platform engineer
• Strong expertise in designing, implementing and supporting scalable and performant database systems (MySQL preferred)
• Strong understanding of relational and non-relational database structures and best practices
• Strong expertise with database internals, including performance tuning and query optimization
• Expertise in integrating best practices for data reliability, fault tolerance, and integrity
• Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS), including RDS
• Experience designing and building highly reliable systems at scale
• Some experience with observability tooling (e.g. ELK, Datadog, Honeycomb) and a compiled language (e.g. Go)
• Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g. Kubernetes, Docker) and Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Terraform, GitOps)

Responsibilities

Work on designing and building database infrastructure to be secure and highly reliable for customers globally

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with our tech stack: MySQL and ElasticSearch for our data layer, AWS with Kubernetes for service orchestration, gRPC and protobufs for internal service communication, Terraform and GitOps to manage our infrastructure, Go for backend services, Node and Typescript for our web services, Next.js and React/Typescript on the frontend, Swift for our iOS sdk and Kotlin for the Android sdk

Benefits

Expected base salary $175,000 - $225,000. The anticipated base salary range is not inclusive of full benefits including equity, health care insurance, time off, paid parental leave, etc
