Requirements
- Experience in newsroom operations, including any responsibilities listed above
- A willingness to take on a variety of tasks and responsibilities, ranging from newsletter production to administrative duties
- Strong copy editing skills, including a sharp eye for maintaining editorial standards
- An eagerness to be part of a dynamic work environment demanding initiative, flexibility, and a willingness to jump in wherever needed to help the team succeed
- Candidates must retain the right to work where they live
Responsibilities
- Build and help oversee the production of Semafor’s newsletters, including by copy editing text, creating data visualizations, finding accompanying art elements, and other logistical support needed
- Monitor and ensure compliance with Semafor’s editorial standards across the newsroom while making sure that newsletters, breaking news, and Signals are published on time
- Monitor Semafor’s newsroom subscriptions, including for photo library providers, news media organizations, data repositories, and others
- Monitor the layout of different elements on our site, including Word at a Glance and featured stories
- Assist in onboarding new newsroom employees, including by training them on our CMS, building data visualizations, and use of photo providers
- Collaborate closely with the rest of Editorial work seamlessly across all of Semafor, and contribute to other products as they are developed
