DevOps Engineer

Summary

GRNET is seeking a DevOps Engineer with at least 1 year of experience in Linux administration (Centos and Debian), code repository management, continuous integration, automated deployment, networking fundamentals, RBDMS databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL), and configuration management tools like Ansible. The role involves developing automation for repetitive tasks, managing CI/CD pipelines, monitoring performance issues, organizing upgrades, improving service security, and participating in the design and deployment of new services.

Requirements

• Proven working experience (at least 2 years) in administration of the Linux operating system (including security, firewall) and in particular Centos and Debian
• Experience (at least 2 years) with code repository management, code merge and quality checks, continuous integration, and automated deployment and management using tools like Jenkins, Git, and Docker
• Good knowledge of networking fundamentals and Network configuration management (IPv4 & IPv6)
• Familiarity with RBDMS databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL)
• Basic Knowledge in configuration Management such as Ansible

Responsibilities

• Develop automation for repetitive tasks
• Manage CI/CD pipelines for a number of services
• Monitor hosts and services to identify performance issues
• Organize upgrades for services
• Improve security of services
• Participate in the design and deployment of new services

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience designing and implementing continuous delivery and/or DevOps solutions or architecture patterns
• Experience in proper setup of networking, load balancing, etc to support high-throughput applications
• Solid experience in installation, configuration, management, optimization of Monitoring Systems (Nagios, Icinga etc)
• Experience with test automation and test-driven development
• Experience with graphing/metrics/logging tools
