DevOps Engineer

Summary

The job is for a Senior DevOps Engineer at Seqera, a company specializing in providing software solutions for complex scientific data analysis. The role involves designing, implementing, and managing cloud-based infrastructure, developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, enabling software engineers to independently develop and maintain software, implementing monitoring systems, automating infrastructure provisioning and configuration management, evaluating and recommending new tools and technologies, troubleshooting infrastructure issues, mentoring junior team members, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement. The ideal candidate has experience with AWS/Azure/GCP, Linux, Docker, Infrastructure As Code, CI/CD, monitoring and observability tooling, programming languages, and incident response.

Requirements

• Proven experience in designing and implementing cloud solutions, preferably in AWS/Azure/GCP (nice to have: at least 2 out of 3)
• Knowledgeable about Linux and capable of working with bash
• Expertise with Docker and general container concepts and its toolset ecosystem
• Proficiency in Infrastructure As Code, CI/CD, and other modern tooling to accelerate engineering processes. Proficient in tooling for these (such as Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.) and have experience working with them in an enterprise setting
• Proficiency in Monitoring and observability tooling and techniques across a broad swath of concerns including security, performance, networking and provenance
• Fast learner and able to navigate across multiple functions and complex systems
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Strives to drive collaboration, and decision making and has deep opinions on platform design
• Strong proficiency in one or more programming/scripting languages, with the ability to mentor others on best practices
• Experience in identifying and responding to complex incidents, including issues that may relate to customer infrastructure

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage cloud-based infrastructure on AWS
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate software deployment, testing, and release processes
• Enable our software engineers to independently develop, release and maintain software via close collaboration with and education of the engineering team
• Implement and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to ensure the reliability and performance of our applications and services
• Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration management using Terraform and related tools
• Evaluate, recommend, and lead implementation of new tools and technologies to improve efficiency, scalability, and security
• Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure-related issues in production and non-production environments
• Mentor junior team members and foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement
