Devops/Cloud Engineer, Senior

Summary

Join the Ministry of Transportation as a Senior DevOps/Cloud Engineer. This hybrid role (currently remote due to COVID-19) requires 10+ years of experience in systems, data communications, and telecommunications, with extensive expertise in WebLogic, WebSphere, Informatica, and Azure DevOps toolsets. You will be responsible for tasks such as monthly performance reporting, technical design review, automation script development, and knowledge transfer. The position demands strong problem-solving skills, experience in incident and change management, and excellent communication abilities. The contract is estimated to last from April 1, 2025, to March 31, 2026.

Requirements

• Have 10+ years of experience in systems, data communications and telecommunication technology including experience with RedHat Enterprise Linux V7+, UNIX Solaris V10 and Mainframe IMS Connect, system software and System tools
• Have extensive experience in WebLogic V12, WebSphere V9, Informatica V10 configuration, customization, upgrading, and patching
• Have extensive experience in DevOps toolsets in Azure Cloud, including but not limited to, Docker, Ansible, Packer, Terraform, Azure DevOps Pipelines, OpenShift
• Have minimum 10 years of experience in WebLogic V12, WebSphere V9, Informatica V10 configuration, customization, upgrading
• Have minimum 5 years of experience in DevOps toolsets in Azure Cloud, including but not limited to, Docker, Ansible, Packer, Terraform, Azure DevOps Pipelines, OpenShift
• Have working knowledge and experience in git, including branching and merging strategies (e.g. git-flow), collaborating via pull request and practicing GitOps
• Have working knowledge and experience of designing and implementing infrastructure as code build automation using Terraform and immutable infrastructure with Ansible and Packer
• Have minimum 10 years of experience in systems, data communications and telecommunication technology including experience with RedHat Enterprise Linux V7+, UNIX Solaris V10 and Mainframe IMS Connect, system software and System tools
• Have working knowledge and experience of implementing instances/applications performance tuning, storage/capacity management, DB migration/upgrade, Backup/Disaster Recovery (DR) strategies
• Have working knowledge and experience of clustering Load Balancers, and Firewall configuration and accomplishing the same in Azure cloud
• Have experience with technologies (J2EE, Java) and web technologies (Node.js, Azure Functions, Serverless, Pub/Sub event driven systems, Azure App Gateway)
• Have experience with Informatics Power Centre tools, Designer, Workflow Manager, Workflow
• Have experience on application monitoring and support
• Possess highly skilled analysis and problem-solving skills
• Have high skilled problem solving, reasoning and trouble-shooting experience to provide advice and resolve data recovery issues in a multi-platform environment
• Provide support for pre-production and production systems on 7/24/365 basis for application and middleware
• Have experience conducting system monitoring and performance and data integrity in accordance with ITIL standards
• Have experience on supporting enterprise business and infrastructure projects
• Have experience in Incident Management, Change Management
• Be able to perform performance analysis
• Have experience in resource usage tracking, analysis
• Be able to perform log searches for problem solving, audit and performance checking
• Have experience in emergency problem resolution
• Be able to provide ad-hoc reporting
• Possess strong oral and written communications and interpersonal skills with experience making presentation, liaising with staff to resolve issues, and working as part of a technical multi-disciplinary team
• Be able to provide support to internal and external clients on a 7/24 basis (based on management’s request)
• Have experience in coordinating and providing leadership to staff and stakeholders
• Have working knowledge of Transportation Safety architecture, applications, databases, and systems

Responsibilities

• Deliver Monthly Performance Status Report (where applicable)
• Include all deliverables worked on during the past month
• Describe progress and specific accomplishments against the deliverable
• Describe the status of the consultant’s deliverable compared to the project Baseline
• Review Technical Design
• Revise Technical Design Based on Review
• Develop automation scripts based on technical design
• Implement & Promote to User Test environment
• Implement & Promote Production environment
• Document for Knowledge transfer
• Provide support to the development of integration and data migration requirements
• Provide support to the Q&A phase of the project
• Provide stabilization support post the project go-live
• Provide documentation for knowledge transfer to ministry staff
• Conduct walkthrough sessions for knowledge transfer

Preferred Qualifications

Have experience with Mid-Tier refresh initiatives with technologies (Docker, Ansible, Packer, Terraform) in Azure cloud environment
