Summary

The job is for a DFM Project Engineer in the field of 3D Printing at Xometry. The role involves working with customers across various industries, evaluating manufacturability of customer designs, and recommending solutions using Xometryโ€™s 3D printing technologies and materials. The position requires a Bachelor of Science Degree in Manufacturing Engineering or a related field, 5+ years of experience in engineering and manufacturing environment in 3D printing, knowledge of optimum 3D printing technology and material selections, printing cycle times, material limitations and costs, geometry limitations, GD&T and inspection/QA practices of the USA, 3D printing software (Materialise Magics, Rhino - Rhinoceros 3D), general 3D CAD modeling software (SolidWorks preferred), ability to identify DFM issues based on 3D models and drawings, prior experience in Design for manufacturing 3D Printed components, Injection Molding experience, exceptional English communication skills, ability to work with partners in troubleshooting production issues and answering partner questions, ability to work well in a fast-paced start-up environment, and familiarity with different types of post-processing and finishes for printed parts. The job is remote.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, technical or related field preferred
  • 5+ years in engineering and manufacturing environment in 3D printing, preferably at a multi-technology 3D printing shop
  • Knowledge of optimum 3D printing technology and material selections, printing cycle times, material limitations and costs, geometry limitations
  • Experience working with suppliers, OEM equipment providers, and customers
  • Knowledge of GD&T and inspection/QA practices of the USA is a plus
  • Experience with 3D printing software (Materialise Magics, Rhino - Rhinoceros 3D)
  • Experience with general 3D CAD modeling software is a plus (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Ability to identify DFM issues based on 3D models and drawings
  • Prior experience in Design for manufacturing 3D Printed components is a plus
  • Injection Molding experience is a plus
  • Ability to work with customers on the fly and solve problems quickly
  • Exceptional English communication skills
  • Able to work with Partners in troubleshooting production issues and answering partner questions
  • Able to work well in a fast-paced start-up environment

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement applicable sourcing strategy
  • Aid production in troubleshooting order execution to ensure customer success
  • Interface directly with 3D printing shops, internal staff members, and management, as well as customers
  • Take on special projects related to expanding the capabilities of our manufacturing partner network, working with OEM equipment makers, and our internal team of experts to improve our core competencies

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with different types of post-processing and finishes for printed parts
  • Material selection knowledge is a plus
