You will influence AbbVie’s enterprise data governance and cross-functional stakeholders, fostering innovation, and monitoring emerging trends. Ensure adherence to regulations and guidelines is also a key responsibility. This is a remote opportunity, with a preferred location in Lake County, IL, requiring 3 days/week onsite if local.
Requirements
- Ph.D. statistics, mathematics, analytics, bioinformatics, data science or equivalent field with approximately 8-10 years of industry experience or MS with 12+ years of experience in a related field
- At least 5 years of experience enabling data analytics and insights within Clinical Development
- Must have 6+ years of experience with people management and talent development
- Expertise in current and emerging technologies (e.g. Data Visualizations, Big Data, AI, Machine Learning, NLP/NLG, Cognitive Analytics etc.)
- Demonstrated project management skills
- Ability to attract, challenge, develop and retain specialized talent with expertise in clinical trials and technology
- Demonstrated effective communication skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate analytical and technical concepts in layman’s terms
- Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills. Demonstrated history of successful execution in a fast-paced environment and in managing multiple priorities effectively
- Demonstrated ability to influence Sr. Executives and cross-functional leaders
- Good understanding of clinical development functional areas and related processes. Proven track-record with leading complex cross-functional initiatives in Clinical Development
Responsibilities
- Manages line-level people managers and senior data scientists to execute on the Clinical Analytics strategy; Responsible for coaching, mentoring and performance management of direct reports, as well as talent development in alignment with DSS strategy and R&D business needs
- Deploy next generation technology and process to enable enterprise data analytics on pace with emerging integrated data sources (biomarker/translational, big data, digital sources, real world data, pharmacovigilance data, clinical trial data)
- Provide fit for purpose solutions at both the study level and product level for ongoing data review (e.g. dose escalation meetings, medical review, safety review, data surveillance and cleaning, centralized statistical monitoring)
- Influence AbbVie’s enterprise data governance as a steward of clinical trials data and other sources that are utilized and analyzed by the clinical analytics team. Influence data owners from across R&D as well as areas that collaborate with R&D
- Identifies new capabilities and opportunities to drive analytics innovation and value creation. Forms cross-functional teams to implement new capabilities; •Responsible for crafting functional area strategies while ensuring alignment with the cross-functional stakeholder groups
- Influences the cross-functional stakeholders and Sr. Executives to identify opportunities to unleash the full-potential of data and analytics, including advanced ML techniques and Artificial Intelligence
- Fosters innovation and entrepreneurial culture within the team that attracts and retains top talent; creates an environment of continuous learning
- Monitor emerging trends across the external technology and analytics environment. Assess impacts to current and future strategies
- Ensures adherence to federal regulations and applicable local regulations, Good Clinical Practices (GCPs), ICH Guidelines, AbbVie Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and to functional quality standards. Stays abreast of new and/or evolving local regulations, guidelines and policies related to clinical development
