Summary

Join NBCUniversal as the Director of Engineering, Finance Systems and lead the technical delivery, support, and evolution of Versant Media’s financial systems. This role ensures the stability of financial systems during the transition to a new company while preparing for future modernization. You will guide the evolution of financial systems to maximize business value, collaborating with engineering teams and stakeholders to align solutions with business priorities. The position requires strong leadership and people management skills to build high-performing teams. Requirements

  • 10+ years of ERP Finance systems experience, with at least 5+ years in engineering or technical leadership roles; deep SAP Finance experience is strongly preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field; advanced degree preferred
  • Extensive experience leading engineering teams responsible for enterprise financial systems, including SAP Finance, Source to Pay (S2P), and Order to Cash (O2C)
  • Deep understanding of SAP Suite on HANA (SoH) and related modules, with familiarity in S/4 HANA and readiness to guide potential future migrations
  • Hands-on knowledge of SAP ABAP development (or equivalent ERP development frameworks), with the ability to plan, review, and guide custom development and integrations
  • Strong understanding of Finance processes and regulatory requirements, with the ability to ensure that systems meet compliance and reporting standards
  • Proven track record in large-scale enterprise environments, preferably within spin-offs, carve-outs, or other complex transformation scenarios
  • Experience with non-ERP financial applications (e.g., expense management, tax, reporting/consolidation tools) and their integration with ERP systems
  • Proven ability to manage third-party vendors and partners, including negotiating deliverables, overseeing performance, and ensuring alignment with business and technical objectives
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to build high-performing technical teams and develop talent
  • Excellent collaboration and influencing abilities, capable of aligning engineering roadmaps with enterprise product and business priorities
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate emerging technologies and platforms, guiding technology choices to maximize business value without being tied to any single vendor or product
  • Exceptional problem-solving, effective communication, and presentation skills, with a proven ability to engage effectively with both technical teams and senior business leaders
  • Fully Remote: This position has been designated as fully remote, meaning that the position is expected to contribute from a non-NBCUniversal worksite, most commonly an employee’s residence

Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering delivery and support for all financial systems, including SAP Finance, Source to Pay (S2P), Order to Cash (O2C), and related non-ERP applications, ensuring reliability and scalability
  • Ensure system stability and performance during the company’s transition to a standalone environment, with a focus on risk mitigation and operational continuity
  • Oversee solution design and architecture, driving alignment with business objectives and ensuring that systems are optimized for both current needs and future modernization
  • Guide engineering teams and vendor partners, balancing hands-on technical leadership with effective people management and team development
  • Collaborate with engineering, product management, and business stakeholders to align technology roadmaps with strategic priorities, influencing outcomes across Finance and Procurement functions
  • Establish and maintain best practices for system design, testing, release management, and operational support, fostering a culture of engineering excellence
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and platforms, ensuring financial systems can evolve in line with business needs and remain cost-effective, secure, and efficient
  • Prepare and deliver clear communications to leadership regarding program status, risks, and recommendations for achieving measurable business value
  • Drive planning and execution of future system transformations, including potential migration from SAP Suite on HANA (SoH) to S/4 HANA or other platforms, as business priorities dictate
  • Ensure financial system investments are cost-effective and deliver measurable business value through well-defined KPIs
