Requirements
- 2+ years of experience leading platform engineering teams as a Director or as a Senior Engineering Manager
- Proven expertise in leading SRE, DevOps, or Cloud Infrastructure Engineering teams
- Excellent at planning and organizing work for multiple streams within the platform engineering team
- Prior experience managing cloud infrastructure spend and optimizing for cost efficiency
- Solid expertise in the latest development, build, test, and deploy practices that drive agility, consistent delivery, and quality
- Strong passion and track record of attracting, developing, and retaining engineers
- Experience utilizing APM tools to monitor and troubleshoot issues as necessary
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Responsibilities
- Partner with the VP of Engineering and the CTO to solidify a vision for Platform Engineering
- Develop a roadmap for key infrastructure engineering efforts in alignment with product engineering efforts and business goals
- Plan and execute strategic initiatives by defining scope, setting timelines, creating project plans, reporting progress, and proactively addressing risks and gaps
- Drive SRE efforts to provide a highly reliable and performant service to our customers
- Continuously plan, optimize, and scale our infrastructure to support the growth of our platform while managing associated costs and budgets
- Provide an excellent developer experience for our engineers that aids in improving developer productivity and happiness
- Advance, scale and support our API to help meet the needs of external users/developers
- Drive mobile platform engineering work in partnership with the mobile team
- Evaluate and work with vendors associated with platform engineering efforts as necessary
- Conduct post-mortems on incidents that disrupt service to our customers as necessary and provide an incident report
- Drive engineering practices within your team in alignment with our engineering philosophies
- Effectively manage performance of your broader team via regular 1-on-1βs, performance reviews and constructive feedback
- Forecast and recommend hiring needs based on product goals and skillset gaps
- Recruit top engineering talent as needed and ensure high levels of engagement and retention
- Develop future leaders by identifying potential and providing necessary opportunities and support
