Requirements

- Proven experience in guiding teams through large-scale architectural transformations, specifically migrating from monolithic systems to Service-Oriented Architectures
- Hands-on experience with modern web technologies such as React (front-end) and Python (back-end)
- Familiarity with cloud-native architectures and technologies like AWS, Kubernetes, Kafka, Fastly, and LaunchDarkly
- Prior experience building and operating high-volume, high-performance consumer websites
Responsibilities
- Actively foster a culture of effective and efficient collaboration with product management, UX, analytics, business partners, and other engineering and product teams to achieve shared goals
- Be responsible for the successful completion of our ongoing migration from a legacy monolithic architecture to a modern Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA)
- Lead engineering efforts for strategic business initiatives, including optimizing traffic channels, modernizing search and discovery, and revamping core business logic like pricing and promotions
- Build and manage a process for sustained engineering and operational excellence, continuously elevating practices, promoting robust testing, and data-driven decisions
- Provide leadership and mentorship to Engineering Managers and a Principal Engineer, fostering a culture of ownership and continuous improvement within the engineering teams
- Guide critical technical decisions across the Shopping and Discovery engineering stack, ensuring scalability, performance, and maintainability for the platform
- Oversee the development and optimization of all commerce-related features, enhancing key performance indicators for the customer journey
- Manage third-party vendors and partnerships, ensuring accountability for the total cost of ownership of our e-commerce systems
- Actively contribute to talent development and acquisition, attracting, hiring, and growing top-tier engineering talent and leaders

- Experience integrating with data pipelines
- Background with A/B testing frameworks and experimentation in a consumer product context
