Requirements

  • Masterโ€™s degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, Counseling, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in online student services or a related area within higher education, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
  • Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to inspire and motivate staff
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement student-centered programs and initiatives
  • Knowledge of current trends and best practices in student services, particularly in an online learning context
  • Proficiency with technology and tools used in virtual education and student support

Responsibilities

  • In partnership with the VP of Student Experience, develop and execute a strategic plan for Student Services that aligns with the university's mission, vision, and goals
  • Lead and manage a team of student success coaches, providing direction, support, and professional development opportunities
  • Monitor and assess the effectiveness of student services programs and initiatives, using data-driven approaches to enhance the student experience
  • Design and implement programs to improve student retention, satisfaction, and success, particularly focusing on the needs of online learners
  • Collaborate with academic departments to support students at risk of academic failure and develop intervention strategies
  • Oversee the development and execution of orientation programs, workshops, and student events to foster community and engagement in a virtual setting
  • Oversee coaching, advising, tutoring, and wellness services to support studentsโ€™ mental, emotional, and physical health
  • Ensure that all student services operations comply with federal, state, and institutional regulations, including ADA, FERPA, and Title IX
  • Prepare and present regular reports on student services metrics, including student satisfaction, retention rates, and program effectiveness, to senior leadership
  • Foster partnerships with other university departments, faculty, and external organizations to support the holistic development of students
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for student concerns and grievances, ensuring timely and appropriate resolutions
  • Communicate effectively with students through various channels, ensuring they are aware of available resources and support services
