Director, Production Engineering

Summary

Join Core Scientific as the Director, Production Engineering, and lead a team modernizing mining and HPC operations. You will develop and implement long-term strategies, manage significant business opportunities, and collaborate with senior executives. This role requires expertise in compliance frameworks (SOX, SOC, NIS), process documentation, and project management. You will oversee large-scale projects, define technology roadmaps, and drive adoption across the enterprise. The position is remote with occasional travel required.

Requirements

• 10+ years of relevant work experience with a bachelor’s degree or at least 7 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA) or 13+ years of relevant work experience
• 5 years’ experience in leadership roles
• Solid understanding of compliance frameworks like SOX, SOC, NIS, etc
• Experience creating and leveraging process flows, control matrices, narratives, and standard operating procedures
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and effectively to various stakeholders, including the Audit Committee and external auditors
• Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, solve complex problems, and manage multiple projects efficiently
• Experience in managing large-scale projects, including readiness, planning, execution, and monitoring of organizational wide SOX compliance initiatives
• Proven record of defining technology roadmap, executing defined technology strategies, and driving adoption across a large enterprise
• Extensive experience architecting, designing, developing, and implementing large-scale production solutions
• Experience in container ecosystems - Docker, Kubernetes, and Service Mesh
• Experience with Continuous Integration pipeline tools such as GitHub, GitHub Actions
• Experience with configuration management tools such as Helm and Ansible
• Strong analytical skills and able to work independently to solve sophisticated engineering problems
• Proven ability to lead with passion and execute vision with little guidance and ability to make independent judgments and decisions within established guidelines
• Outstanding organizational, communication, interpersonal, relationship building skills conducive to collaboration
• Able to work well in a global collaborative environment

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement long-term strategies for ensuring alignment with the organization’s vision and objectives
• Apply management frameworks to evaluate significant business opportunities and provide strategies and recommendations
• Work closely with senior executives, business leaders and process owners to identify risks, gaps, and solutions
• Strong knowledge of Enterprise Risk Management and demonstrated expertise in applying them to the identification, assessment, and mitigation of organizational risks and enhancing the company’s operational and risk resilience
• Review and maintain process flows, control matrices, risk assessments, and scoping materials that support annual SOX and SOC testing and auditing
• Strong ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, solve complex problems, and manage multiple projects efficiently
• Foster open, respectful, and professional communication directly within the team as well as with co-workers/ teammates and leaders across the organization
• Performs other duties as assigned
