Join Walden University's Postdoctoral Fellowship, a one-year temporary role focused on preparing candidates for teaching and mentoring in higher education. Requirements
- PhD/Prof Doctorate in Business or Management field of study or closely related field (examples - Economics, Leadership, Policy)
- Have an adequate computer to handle an electronic learning platform, keyboard, pointing device, and computer monitor
- Be able to use Microsoft Office products (MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint), zip software, and Adobe Acrobat and must have reliable Internet access as well as alternate access in cases where primary access becomes unavailable
- Commitment to advocating for the learning and development needs of students earning their degrees in a distance learning environment
- Commitment to fostering Walden’s Community of Care and Sense of Belonging philosophies
- Maintain currency with research by reviewing articles, journals, and presentations
- If participating in research, the Fellow may publish and acknowledge Walden University
- Be appropriately credentialed, possess an earned degree from an accredited institution or recognized by a country's ministry of education in the discipline being taught, and may be expected to be licensed or license-eligible to teach in specific programs
Responsibilities
- Receive specific ongoing training from Walden University in teaching practices, use of an electronic learning platform, specifics of the policies, procedures and degree requirements for the Doctor of Business Administration in the College of Management and Human Potential, socialization into the Walden University culture, assessment of academic integrity of student work (including use of www.turnitin.com), and mentoring
- Shadow a mentor for their first term and will be assigned a course in subsequent terms, which is taught using the Canvas platform
- Interact with students within this platform
- Postings to the classroom may be done at any time of day, they must be completed in a timely manner in accordance with the Faculty Handbook or other criteria established by Walden University
- Responses to student questions must be posted within 48 hours
- Verify the accuracy of student postings and submissions and to provide feedback and grades to students through Canvas
- Substantive feedback on assignment rubrics must be provided within 5 days of submission and grades posted through Canvas
- Be reasonably accessible to students
- Be available to students outside the course discussion board and in addition to providing substantive feedback on assignments and postings
- Publish their availability to students through course syllabi, instructor information in the classroom, and/or other appropriate documents
- Participate virtually in a Kick-off, regular coaching sessions, professional development and service opportunities, shadowing, teaching, and supervisor and mentoring meetings
- Collaborate with a coach and supervisor to develop and reflect on an annual plan with specific goals for each term
- Attend Residencies held domestically or internationally where they will teach intensives and colloquia and facilitate school and university-wide discussions
- Additional responsibilities as determined by program leadership and encapsulated in the Fellow’s annual plan
Benefits
- Graduate Course Instruction: $1,560 - $4,080 per Quarter or Semester, depending on type of course taught and length of course
- Undergraduate Course Instruction: $700 - $2,200 per quarter, depending on type of course taught and length of course
