Requirements
- This role requires an understanding of inside sales in a life science or Contract research organization
- Understanding of development of new contacts and leads through various approaches is key
- Advanced degree in Biology, Chemistry, drug discovery or related discipline, BS required or M.S ideal
- Minimum 2 -3 years’ experience working in drug discovery
- B2B Sales experience, preferably in a CRO or life sciences company
- Ability to work from a home office (high-speed internet, secure workspace)
- Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
Responsibilities
- Inside Sales Representative is a key contributor to the sales cycle supporting overall Lead generation and management process
- They will be responsible for identification and qualification of potential customers through various channels while building a relationship to understand and meet clients’ needs
- Working with business development and account managers to drive to sales targets is a key objective for the role
- Qualify leads from digital marketing campaigns, conferences, references, tradeshows, etc
- Follow up on existing cold and warm leads to re-engage them in the sales process
- Participate in lead generation strategies, such as cold calling/emailing, to identify business prospects and create/maintain a list of potential customers
- Research potential leads from business directories, web searches, or digital resources
- Develop sales opportunities by researching and identifying potential accounts, soliciting new accounts, building rapport, providing technical information and explanations, and preparing quotations
- Further develop accounts by checking customer’s buying history, suggesting related and new items (cross sell), and explaining technical features
- Perform gap analysis in stagnant or inactive accounts
- Proactively follow up with customers to get their feedback, guarantee their satisfaction and develop ideas for pitch modification to more successfully advertise products
- Maintain a log of which customers have been contacted, the outcome of each interaction and issues that need to be flagged for follow up
- Track weekly, monthly, and quarterly performance and sales metrics
- Build pipelines with channel partners and team members to close sales
- Collaborate with professionals from other departments to identify improvements to product offerings, sales education, marketing strategies and other business-related topics
- Provide customer related feedback to the Business Development Managers, Product Managers and Marketing Teams
- Assess competitors by analyzing and summarizing competitor information and trends
- Maintain comprehensive and accurate records in the CRM; assist with CRM clean-up
- Input leads, contacts, accounts and opportunities into the company CRM and maintain the accuracy of these records to timeframes as directed by sales management
- Participate in trade shows, vendor shows, and related activities as deemed necessary
- Perform other duties and lead special projects as required and assigned
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in interfacing with clients in a life science-based company preferred
- Previous inside sales experience or related sales experience preferred
- Laboratory experience in drug discovery research or sales preferred
- Previous experience in a client-facing role such as inside sales, market development, or client services
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload to drive and achieve desired objectives
- Ability to understand and translate customers’ needs into the proper solution
- Valid driver’s license
- Excellent computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office, social media platforms, and other web-based applications; Knowledge of and the ability to master CRM programs
- Excellent communication (oral and written) and attention to detail; possesses the ability to (cold) call, connect and interact with potential customers
- Tenacity to handle rejection and continue with a positive attitude when reaching next potential client
- Ability to work well in a team environment but also capable of working independently; Self-motivated and self-directed; Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
- In-depth understanding of the drug discovery industry and process
- Knowledge of sales process from initiation to close
