Summary

Join LILT's Production Team as a contract position based in Argentina! You will be responsible for formatting and layout of translated content across various languages, ensuring consistency and meeting client specifications. Prepare files for translation, adapt and localize visual elements, and utilize DTP tools like Adobe InDesign and Illustrator. Conduct quality assurance checks, troubleshoot design issues, and collaborate with translators and project managers. Maintain version control and convert files between formats while ensuring clear communication with internal teams and clients. This role requires 2+ years of experience in desktop publishing, strong DTP skills, and excellent attention to detail.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in desktop publishing, preferably in an LSP or localization environment
  • Strong expertise in DTP tools such as Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, QuarkXPress, Microsoft Office, and other relevant software
  • Keen eye for visual design and layout consistency, ensuring high-quality, error-free output
  • Experience working with multilingual content and an understanding of language-specific DTP challenges (e.g., character spacing, right-to-left text, non-Latin scripts)
  • Proficiency in handling and organizing multiple file types, formats, and large datasets
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work in a team-oriented environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot issues related to formatting and design
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, meet tight deadlines, and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Degree or certification in Graphic Design, Desktop Publishing, or a related field is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Apply design and formatting to translated content across various languages, ensuring consistency with the source document and client specifications
  • Prepare files for translation by extracting and formatting content in required formats, including InDesign, Illustrator, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and others
  • Adapt and localize visual elements such as images, graphs, charts, and documents to fit target languages and regional requirements
  • Use DTP tools such as Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, FrameMaker, QuarkXPress, or other desktop publishing software to produce high-quality localized documents
  • Conduct detailed QA checks to ensure the final output is free of errors, adheres to client guidelines, and meets industry standards
  • Resolve issues related to fonts, layout, image compatibility, and other design aspects that may arise due to language changes or technical constraints
  • Work closely with translators, project managers, and engineers to ensure seamless integration of content into the final design
  • Maintain organized records of multiple versions of the same document to ensure accuracy in project delivery
  • Convert between different file formats as required by the project, maintaining fidelity to the original layout
  • Provide clear communication regarding design adjustments, limitations, and timelines with internal teams and clients

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with translation memory tools such as SDL Trados Studio, memoQ, or Wordfast
  • Previous experience working on projects with multilingual and multicultural elements
  • Fluency in additional languages is a plus, though not required
