Electrical Drafter/Designer

Summary

Join Timmons Group's Power Engineering and Systems Planning Group as an Electrical Drafter or Designer in our Charlotte, NC office (remote work considered). This role focuses on renewable energy projects, including solar farms and battery storage. You will assist with drafting and design tasks, develop proficiency in CAD software, collaborate with team members, and demonstrate initiative and attention to detail. The ideal candidate possesses an Associate's degree or equivalent experience, along with proficiency in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation. This position requires strong mathematical skills, excellent communication, and the ability to work independently.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree or technical certification in drafting, or equivalent industry experience
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation, ideally in an engineering environment
• Knowledge of substation electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and/or substation physical/civil drawings
• Experience using Autodesk Raster Design and Bentley Descartes
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
• Strong mathematical skills and experience working with scaled drawings
• Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and accountable for assigned responsibilities
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Must be legally eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship now and in the future

Responsibilities

• Assist with drafting and design tasks for renewable projects, including physical and civil layout drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams
• Develop proficiency in CAD software while adhering to client standards, practices, and procedures to ensure compliance with project expectations
• Learn and apply standards, procedures and processes in project execution
• Collaborate with team members to resolve design challenges and seek guidance from experienced professionals
• Demonstrate initiative and attention to detail in assigned tasks

Preferred Qualifications

Ideal candidates will have two (2) or more years of professional experience
