Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in EE
  • Strong analog knowledge
  • Good understanding of RF design and measurement environment, knowledge of transmission line theory and interconnects
  • Hands on with working knowledge of high-speed high frequency measurement tools (Network Analyzer, Spectrum Analyzer, etc.)
  • Ability to develop test scripts and automate measurements
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Strong team player who can collaborate with colleagues

Responsibilities

  • Work with the internal teams and external suppliers to design and develop a high-speed mixed signal chip that is in the signal path used for recording and playback of digital information stored on a Hard Disk Drive (HDD)
  • Perform component level characterization and complete evaluation of electronic devices
  • Collect bench measurements of high frequency analog parameters as well as verification of digital circuitry using third party and internal evaluation boards
  • Modify existing test scripts as well as developing new test scripts for automation
  • Complete HDD level testing and component level failure analysis
  • Develop comprehensive test plans and prototype test solutions to verify component functionality
  • Document experiments and publish detailed engineering reports
  • Interface with chip designers, communicate findings, verify work-arounds and corrective actions
  • Interface with internal functional groups local and overseas
  • Support HDD development teams to establish device settings and identify parameters to optimize system-level performance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree is preferred
  • Knowledge of HDD operation and functional blocks of data path electronics is preferred
  • Experience with Verilog/System Verilog and ModelSim is a plus
  • Experience with CAD for PCB layouts is a plus
  • Experience with Tool Command Language TCL is a plus
