Summary

Join Arlo Solutions as an Emerging Cyber Security Subject Matter Expert and Analyst to deliver consistent, responsive, and technical Cybersecurity analysis within the emerging cybersecurity landscape. The Emerging Cyber SME/AI Analyst will play a critical role within the Chief Data and Artificial Intelligence Office (CDAO) for the Office of the Secretary of Defense.

Requirements

  • Must have a current and active Secret security clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree or Professional engineering degree from an accredited university
  • Minimum 5 years of combined Joint, Interagency, OSD, or Service Headquarters experience performing work related to task area
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, systems engineering, or related fields
  • Experience with cybersecurity policy development and threat assessment, particularly in high-stakes government or military environments
  • Minimum 5 years of experience using communication skills, both written and oral, to include preparation of written products for senior leader (general officer/flag officer/senior executive service level)
  • Ability to communicate complex cybersecurity concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including senior leadership
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a forward-thinking approach to emerging cyber threats
  • Must be comfortable in outward-facing roles, including presenting to senior leadership and participating in external vendor discussions

Responsibilities

  • Support the CDAO CIO with expert knowledge of emerging cyber threats, policies, and processes
  • Lead studies and assessments to identify gaps in the organizations cyber operations posture and recommend mitigations
  • Foster partnerships with stakeholders across the CDAO and develop action plans
  • Consultation with other SMEs: Engage with cybersecurity and technology SMEs across government and industry to assess emerging trends and potential threats in the evolving cyber landscape
  • Policy Development: Lead the drafting and refinement of cybersecurity policies, impact assessments, and strategic guidance documents that influence organizational capabilities and risk postures
  • Threat Analysis: Identify and analyze emerging cyber threats, including those related to zero trust, artificial intelligence, and other emerging technologies. This includes reviewing Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVEs), understanding evolving attack vectors, and anticipating future risks
  • Directorate Engagement: Collaborate with leaders from various OSD directorates to gather insights on cybersecurity challenges and provide recommendations tailored to the specific needs of their operations
  • Vendor and Technology Assessments: Attend meetings with vendors and review new cybersecurity technologies and solutions. Provide objective analysis and reports on the potential impact and value of these solutions to CDAO’s mission
  • Data Security and System Resilience: Contribute to discussions around advanced cybersecurity architectures, such as beyond zero trust models, data meshing, and system hardening against evolving cyber threats
  • Risk and Impact Assessment: Provide comprehensive assessments on how emerging cyber risks and technologies could affect OSD capabilities and operations, offering recommendations on mitigation strategies
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with data scientists, AI engineers, and systems architects to develop a holistic understanding of the intersection between cybersecurity, AI, and data management

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a related field from an accredited university/college
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, and Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) principles
  • Experience with systems engineering, logical reasoning, and technical risk assessment methodologies
  • Familiarity with CVEs and ability to analyze their impact on systems and operations
  • Knowledge of advanced technologies such as AI, data meshing, and their intersection with cybersecurity
  • Familiarity with DoD systems and OSD operations
  • Understanding of data-centric security approaches such as data meshing
  • Awareness of the latest developments in AI and their implications on cybersecurity strategies
