Engineering Manager - Access Control

Summary

Join HashiCorp's Cloud Identity engineering team as an Engineering Manager for the Access Control team. Lead engineering efforts in designing, building, launching, and operating core Identity services that manage user accounts and authentication requests. Develop and execute a strategy and roadmap to ensure systems meet reliability, performance, and latency goals. Collaborate with Product Management, Design, and Principal engineers, as well as cross-functional teams. Cultivate excellence in software reliability, scalability, security, and craftsmanship. Contribute to company-wide initiatives and mentor a team of talented frontend engineers. Translate vision into execution for key initiatives, partnering with senior leadership. This role requires strong technical expertise, leadership experience, and a passion for continuous learning.

Requirements

• Have 2+ years of experience leading high-performing teams
• Have a strong technical background (7+ years) in relevant engineering domains
• Have a demonstrated working knowledge of distributed systems concepts
• Have experience developing applications and services in a public cloud infrastructure AWS or Azure
• Have strong knowledge of reliability concepts and have hands-on experience owning a critical SLO
• Been responsible for critical production facing applications or services
• Have strong engineering experience and passion for continuous learning
• Worked to operationalize complex software at scale

Responsibilities

• Lead the engineering efforts to design, build, launch and operate core Identity services
• These services manage user accounts and process authentication requests on behalf of users and machines
• Take the team on a mission to evolve the architecture of the Identity services as we scale our platform to meet the growing demons of our users and customers
• Rally your team to meet the objectives, celebrate team victories, and continuously seek to learn and improve
• Work closely with Product Management, Design, and Principal engineers
• Develop a strategy and an engineering roadmap to ensure systems meet the reliability, performance, and latency goals
• Lead multiple project teams and collaborate with peers in security, platform, compliance, and product engineering teams
• Cultivate excellence in the reliability, scalability, security, and craft of the software your team builds
• Contribute to company-wide initiatives led by our engineering management, recruitment, and people teams
• Take a pragmatic approach to solving business problems and balancing them with the career aspirations of the team
• Translate vision to execution for key initiatives in partnership with senior leadership
• Engage on topics such as performance, security, compliance and user interactions in complex systems
• As a manager of this team, you will be responsible for leading delivery on strategic and business critical initiatives
• You will partner with senior leadership and cross functional partners, in product management and design, in driving the right outcomes for the business
• You will lead talented engineers with frontend expertise whose growth you will be responsible for

Preferred Qualifications

• You have experience in an Identity domain or working in a platform engineering team
• You have 5+ years of professional software development experience and are proficient in at least one frontend programming language (TypeScript or JavaScript preferred)
• Experienced with modern browser based development (Javascript/ES7, HTML, CSS)
• You have experience with infrastructure-as-a-service
