Requirements

  • 8 or more years in software engineering roles, including hands-on experience building digital products in a cross-functional agile environment
  • Experience delivering solutions on AWS
  • Experience managing engineering professionals, including responsibility for performance management, professional development, and mentoring team members
  • Proven ability to develop engineering team staffing models, consult on job ladders, and lead hiring and team-building initiatives
  • Experience in professional services, government, or federal contracting, particularly in client-facing roles with demonstrated success in delivering high-quality technical solutions
  • Exceptional coaching and mentoring skills, with a focus on developing engineering talent and fostering a culture of continuous improvement
  • Deep understanding of software development operations and agile frameworks, including CI/CD, DevSecOps, and modern software delivery practices
  • Expert knowledge of the software development lifecycle, including requirements definition, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance, with the ability to coach teams in best practices
  • Outstanding relationship-building skills in large, complex stakeholder environments, balancing technical and business needs effectively
  • Masterful communication skills across technical, business, and creative stakeholders, ensuring alignment and shared understanding of goals and objectives
  • Proven track record of driving progress in ambiguous environments, with strong problem-solving and prioritization skills
  • Experience balancing long-term technical strategy planning with the execution of immediate deliverables
  • Experience contributing to technical content for government or commercial proposals, including reviews of architecture, delivery plans, and resource needs
  • Experience managing teams owning platform engineering, infrastructure, and lower environments, including responsibility for scalability, reliability, and security
  • US Citizenship or documented proof of eligibility to work in the US
  • Has been living in the US for at least the past 3 years
  • Successful candidate is subject to a background investigation by the government and must be able to meet the requirements to hold a position of Public Trust

Responsibilities

  • Foster collaboration and drive impact within your team and across multiple teams to achieve shared goals and deliver value at scale
  • Cultivate a culture of innovation by encouraging creative problem-solving, introducing new technologies, and spearheading initiatives that push the boundaries of engineering excellence
  • Provide oversight for the technical design, development, maintenance, and operational aspects of one or more software systems, ensuring high-quality delivery, security compliance, and alignment with business objectives
  • Manage and support team members by nurturing their careers, setting clear expectations, monitoring performance, and promoting a positive, inclusive, and engaging team environment
  • Ensure effective quality assurance practices, manage risk and issue resolution, and guide teams through process changes to enhance efficiency and maintain high standards
  • Manage release communication, production deployments, post-release analysis and reporting, and provide support to ensure system reliability and customer satisfaction
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients by actively engaging in discussions, providing technical expertise, identifying opportunities for improvement or growth, and ensuring alignment between engineering solutions and client needs
  • Contribute to business development and capture activities by participating in solution exercises, developing technical content for proposals, and aligning engineering capabilities with client needs to win new contracts
  • Collaborate with peers to refine best practices, promote knowledge sharing, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that advance the engineering discipline at Bellese

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience managing remote engineering teams, fostering collaboration and maintaining high performance
  • Experience working with subcontractors in a remote environment
  • Experience in a rapidly growing small business or startup environment, with the ability to adapt and thrive in dynamic conditions
  • Experience developing and supporting digital healthcare technology products and services, particularly in highly regulated environments
  • Familiarity with public sector projects or work in other regulated industries, such as finance, healthcare, or government
  • Understanding of accessibility requirements and best practices for building inclusive and accessible technology solutions
  • Certification in or experience with organizational change management efforts, particularly in technical teams or engineering environments
  • Experience supporting or leading Communities of Practice for engineering disciplines, in partnership with other functional areas such as product management, design, or DevSecOps
