Summary
Join Canva's Page Assembly team as Engineering Manager and lead a small team of engineers in building and extending systems for web page bootstraps. You will be responsible for team delivery, roadmap shaping, and hands-on coding contributions. Requirements
- Have experience in a technical leadership role; and in a people management or team leadership position
- Have experience building and monitoring systems in distributed cloud environments (ideally AWS)
- Be a systems thinker. Who is equally at home scaling a Java back end service as looking at Javascript payload sizes in the browser
- Have deep knowledge and understanding of Computer Engineering fundamentals and first principles and how they apply to the modern web
- Have hands on experience in both the front end (Javascript) and backend (ideally Java) domains
- Have the ability to guide and mentor other members within the team and improve the way we collaborate, learn, and share ideas
- Have excellent communication and collaboration skills to coordinate efforts across teams in a dynamic environment
Responsibilities
- Lead a small (3 to 5) team of engineers focused on building and extending the various systems that assemble and deliver web page bootstraps
- Be accountable for team delivery and ongoing delivery improvements
- Partner with Product to shape the roadmap, balancing product outcomes with pragmatic technical excellence
- Be a hands-on leader contributing directly to progressing goals with code
- Partner with a broad set of stakeholders to ensure the platform you are building is fit for the needs of Canva as it continues to grow and evolve
- Help set technical direction by researching, justifying and advocating you and your teams design choices in the form of design docs
