Engineering Manager

Summary

Join Canva's Video Export team as an Engineering Manager and lead a small team of software engineers. You will be responsible for building and maintaining scalable video export tools for both backend and frontend. This role requires strong systems engineering expertise, backend development skills, and experience with TypeScript and JavaScript. You will work closely with stakeholders, drive planning, and foster a collaborative team environment. Requirements

• Previous experience in technical people leadership or mentorship of high performing engineers
• Experience in full-stack software development with a strong emphasis on front-end technologies, including Java and Typescript
• Understanding of backend development and systems engineering, including building and maintaining scalable infrastructure
• Proven ability to prioritize tasks and maintain team focus to deliver high impact goals
• Good written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

• Lead and coach a small team of software engineers focused on building the video export tools for backend and front end export
• Work with the code directly to help the team deliver scalable and robust product features for Canva users around the world
• Work closely with the stakeholders to understand and contribute to the product roadmap
• Drive the planning and refinement of cycle goals, ensuring there is alignment between the company, group, and teams
• Foster a culture of collaboration and advocate for the engineering needs of non-technical collaborators within the group

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge or experience working with video and graphics technologies
• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to break large projects down into smaller ones and deliver on them through others
