Engineering Manager

Requirements

• Have experience leading an engineering team in the Product Team model as an Engineering Manager or Technical Lead
• Be experienced leading teams using Agile principles and Scrum methodologies
• Enjoy working with Product and Engineering teams to plan, execute, and deliver projects
• Have experience helping engineers grow through mentorship and coaching
• Have knowledge of common patterns and software engineering and best practices
• Have experience working with high traffic, scalable mobile applications
• Have a degree in Computer Science or similar field, or equivalent real-world experience

Responsibilities

• Be responsible for the team and their ability to support the objectives of the product squad
• Ensure engineers are working closely with Product and Design in discovery and the work is effectively transitioned through delivery, keeping an eye on the quality and maintainability of codebases
• Take a hands-on approach to delivery management, ensuring the backlog is healthy, maintenance and tech debt work are scheduled, and work is broken down appropriately, in a timely manner
• Run agile sprint ceremonies and coach others to do the same
• Coach and support a team of skilled engineers
• Care about each team member individually and aid them in both their personal growth and their ability to work as a team
• Coach engineers using weekly one-on-ones, building trust and delivering feedback with kind candor
• Lead by example, embodying our three engineering values: Build with Others, for Others; Focus on Impact; Learn and Iterate
• Build a world-class engineering team who works closely with product and design to solve user problems in Search, aligned with MyFitnessPal’s product vision and strategy
• Manage the transition of engineering work seamlessly from discovery through delivery
• Facilitate agile ceremonies and adopt best practices in delivery management
• Ensure the engineering team is maintaining a high-quality product that supports rapid prototyping and testing
• Promote the growth of teammates through mentorship and coaching
