Requirements
- Experienced in leading a distributed full-stack team, in a fast pace environment
- Still consider yourself a software engineer at heart and are willing to be hands-on when required
- Have managed 3+ direct reports before
- Are someone who takes ownership and is comfortable with ambiguity
- Provide clarity and make things happen at pace
- Have an appetite to work closely with their product team to test and release new ideas fast
- Challenge teams to measure impact and demonstrate added value
- Have great communication skills. Both verbal and in writing
Responsibilities
- Lead 1 team of 3-4 engineers, focusing on outcomes over output
- Partner with engineers, product managers and product designers to deliver great customer impact and make the company a great place to work
- Coach, mentor and develop high-performing engineers. Ensure high psychological safety
- Partner with product and science teams to establish the roadmap and achieve sustainable throughput while iterating fast
- Challenge engineers on system design, scope or sequencing to deliver faster while decreasing the technical debt. Actively tackle any bottleneck in the system, wherever they are
- Contribute to the evolution of their architecture, tools and processes
- Partner with other engineering managers on cross-cutting initiatives like hiring or onboarding
Preferred Qualifications
- An incredible growth mindset. You read books, watch talks, listen to podcasts and are never afraid to try new things
- Experience building mobile apps
- Experience deploying machine learning in production
- Experience with scalability (backend, data pipelines)
