Summary

Join Veolia North America as an Engineering Manager and lead multi-disciplinary teams in commissioning complex projects for data centers, utility plants, and power generation facilities. This results-oriented role requires strong leadership, communication, and technical skills to manage projects, budgets, and schedules while ensuring client satisfaction. You will work with senior management, clients, and contractors, overseeing all aspects of project delivery, from initial planning to final closeout. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering with 10-15 years of practical experience in the implementation and project management of electrical/mechanical/controls commissioning of critical building systems
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience as commissioning agent with proven practical experience in the implementation and project management of electrical/mechanical/controls commissioning of critical building systems
  • Demonstrate above average people and negotiating skills
  • Demonstrate superior time management and ability to work under the pressures of schedule demands
  • Ability to be resourceful, and find solutions to fast paced complex problems
  • Able to think technically about Mission Critical systems and verbalize for a less technical audience
  • Able to drive project expectations to conclusion be fiscally conscious of project budget
  • Be a role model of composure for direct reports under difficult client projects
  • Be a mentor for direct reports (if any) and subject matter expert for direct report growth
  • If needed, be able to interview and participate in the selection of candidates to fill direct report positions
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products is a must

Responsibilities

  • Work with senior management and staff to improve and optimize core services, standards and, procedures as applied to the commissioning process, resource utilization, and management
  • Manage mechanical/electrical systems commissioning, energy and consulting of complex projects for local, national, and international clients
  • Lead multi-disciplined teams to effectively manage projects across multiple locations
  • Serve as single point overall technical contact coordinating directly with customers’ technical team and their contractors
  • Prepare and review method of procedures, commissioning plans, technical reports, specifications, cost estimates, and studies
  • Diagnose and solve design and operational issues as a result of a thorough commissioning process
  • Manage commissioning projects and project resources to a predetermined scope, fee and schedule
  • Perform construction observations, review contract documents, develop functional test plans and execute tests for a wide variety of mechanical, and controls systems
  • Manage projects, project teams, clients, project scopes, project budgets and project schedules
  • Work with customer and project team to define and manage project deliverables to support the project’s needs
  • Ensure complete communication and understanding of client’s requirements, expectations, and best practices
  • Ensure on-time and highest quality delivery of all hardware, information, and services in full compliance with project technical requirements
  • Provide client with regular status reports summarizing technical activities, schedule performance, risks, budget status, and forecasts
  • Ensure clear definition and swift closeout of project punch-list items
  • Ensure all site quality control documentation and test reports are properly archived and communicated to responsible customer service personnel
  • Review project budgets to insure they adequately cover design and scope of supply requirements
  • Identify new clients, new opportunities, maintain existing client relationships, and general marketing new related opportunities
  • Review design documents and craft project proposals and ROM pricing as per client request
  • Participate in pre-award and contract negotiation presentations and meetings
  • Identify/support development of new business relationships and opportunities
  • Manage relationships with key clients and identify upsell opportunities
  • Engage senior management in development of long range planning
  • Support management efforts to facilitate employee development and training
  • Coordinate internal resource scheduling
  • Review expense reports & time sheets (Direct Reports)
  • Conduct annual performance reviews (Direct Reports)
  • Work with senior management on implementation of performance management and improvement systems
  • Comply with and uphold safety in the workplace guidelines and practices

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of building codes and construction industry standards, such as ASHRAE and LEED is a plus
  • Knowledge, application and implementation of electrical/mechanical test instrumentation is desirable
  • Familiarity with NETA Electrical Acceptance Testing guidelines is a plus
  • Working knowledge of Life Safety systems is a plus
  • Use of Google equivalents a plus
  • EIT, PE, CEM, DCEP, LEED, CEM credentials a plus
  • BCxP, CBCP, CCP & PMP credentials a plus
