Join DataForce by TransPerfect as a freelance English (US) Writer to create publishable-level content for an innovative AI project. This remote, task-based position offers a flat rate of $1,000 per novella (approximately 12,500 words). The project runs until August 8th, 2025, with a 3-week delivery timeframe per novella. You will work on one novella within the Memoir/Autobiography/Biography or Thriller genre. A portfolio showcasing your writing skills is required for consideration, and the use of AI tools is strictly prohibited. The ideal candidate possesses proven writing experience, ideally with published works, and demonstrates excellent writing skills and attention to detail.

Requirements

• Idiomatic fluency in English (US)
• Graduate or undergraduate of literature, journalism, or creative writing or with proven experience in journalism, writing, or content creation
• At least one previously published work. If no formally published work is available, high-quality sample(s) that reflect publication-level standards may be submitted instead
• Experience in creative writing
• Excellent writing skills (grammar, spelling)
• Attention to detail
• Provide a portfolio of your work for review
• Portfolio must be a PDF file
• Portfolio must be concise yet comprehensive
• Portfolio must include 3 pieces of work. At least one of them must match the genre you select to work on (memoir/biography or thriller)
• Portfolio may include a selection of different types of writing (articles, blog posts, reports, whitepapers)
• Portfolio may include Published Work: Published pieces, especially from sites, magazines, etc
• Portfolio may include Examples of content for various platforms (Medium, Substack, etc)
• Portfolio may include Any other relevant material you might have to show proof of your past experience

Responsibilities

• Produce publishable-level content for an innovative AI project
• Work on 1 novella that totals around 12,500 words
• After delivery, work on feedback received from QA team and client and apply necessary changes to text

Preferred Qualifications

• Previously published book(s)
• High-quality writing sample in one of the applicable genres (Biography/Memoirs and Thriller)
• Samples of novels, short stories, or other published creative works
