Entry Level Water Resources Engineer

Summary

AMT is seeking an Entry Level Water Resources Engineer to join their team in Richmond, VA starting May 2025. The position involves performing hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, designing drainage systems, and assisting in the preparation of engineering documents. A BS in Civil or Environmental Engineering with a focus on Water Resources is required, along with proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. Additional qualifications include knowledge of hydrology and hydraulic modeling software, successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE/EIT) Exam, and design knowledge of MicroStation and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D.

Requirements

• BS in Civil or Environmental Engineering with a focus in Water Resources
• Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel
• Knowledge of hydrology and hydraulic modeling (drainage, SWM, floodplain) with commonly used software
• Design knowledge of MicroStation and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D
• Excellent organizational, coordination and communication skills, both written and verbal

Responsibilities

• Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analysis and reporting
• Collect and Analyze data for mapping and reporting
• Design of open and closed drainage systems, stormwater management facilities and erosion and sediment controls
• Assist in the preparation of engineering documents (plans, reports, cost estimates and specifications) for Advertisement and Construction
• Obtain permit approvals from state and local agencies
• Establish and maintain positive working relationships with coworkers, project managers, supervisors, and other team members

Preferred Qualifications

Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE/EIT) Exam preferred
