Join The Vertex Companies, LLC (VERTEX), a global professional services firm, as a Project Manager or Senior Project Manager for Environmental Due Diligence and Remediation services in the Midwest Region. This hybrid role can be based in Chicago, IL or remotely from the greater Chicago area. You will conduct and manage Environmental Site Assessments (ESA) and Property Condition Assessments (PCA), subsurface investigations, remediation work, and prepare technical reports. You will also oversee field staff and subcontractors, ensure project deliverables and budgets are met, and work closely with senior managers. This position requires a BS in Geology, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field, 8+ years of professional experience in environmental consulting, and Illinois Professional Licensure (PE/PG). Requirements
- BS in Geology, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or related environmental field
- 8+ years of professional experience and technical proficiency in environmental consulting services, including subsurface investigation and remediation
- Experience with assessment, remediation and compliance with the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) regulatory programs (e.g. LUST, SRP) as well as other relevant regulatory agencies within the region
- Successful track record in managing multi-faceted environmental projects with multiple services and accelerated schedules
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Responsibilities
- Conduct and manage Environmental Site Assessments (ESA) and Property Condition Assessments (PCA), subsurface investigations (including groundwater, soil gas, soil sampling), remediation work, writing technical reports and/or other project assignments as appropriate
- Provide oversight to field staff and subcontractors conducting site investigation and remediation projects
- Ensure that project deliverables, milestones, and budgets are met
- Work closely with senior managers in the coordination of work activities to meet milestones, budgetary limits, deadlines, or other performance indicators
- Prepare, review, and submit final reports in accordance with regulations, applicable guidance and policies, and internal quality control standards
- Make employee safety a priority both in-house and on-site, in accordance with corporate policy
- Oversee the training, career development, and performance reviews for regional team
- Continue building a robust team of individuals that fit within the VERTEX corporate culture
- Oversee the management and staffing of projects within the region
- Ensure compliance of projects with all local, state and Federal regulations, as well as compliance with Company Policy
- Ensure high quality on deliverables for the Service Area
- Meet the utilization and financial goals for self and all assigned staff within the region
- Direct implementation of projects to meet technical, client, and financial goals
- Follow corporate requirements for administrative and accounting protocols related to project management
- Provide senior technical leadership to assigned staff related to implementation of projects
- Provide senior review and resolution of problem projects as appropriate
- Assist the Regional Lead with continuing to building a robust team of individuals that fit within the VERTEX corporate culture
Preferred Qualifications
- Illinois Professional Licensure (PE/PG) in good standing or ability to receive within 6 months is preferred
- Illinois Department of Public Health licensed asbestos inspector, management planner, project designer, project manager and/or air sampling professional is a plus
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook required; working knowledge of Office 365 applications preferred
Benefits
- The projected hiring range for this position is $85,000 - 135,000 for a person who meets the requirements
