Join Western Digital as a Chemical/Process/Mechanical Systems Engineer and contribute to the design, construction, and operational support of critical facility systems. You will be responsible for creating project estimates, reviewing designs from external firms, and assessing existing systems. Requirements
- B.S. Degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent
- Minimum 1 years of experience with high-tech electronics/semiconductor manufacturing or research facility, pharmaceutical bio-tech facility, or some other “high availability” and “high tech type of facility
- Working Knowledge: Building Codes and Energy Codes
Responsibilities
- Create new capital project ROM estimates, construction schedules, and funding justification presentations
- Review new mechanical systems designs produced by MEP design firms under contract to WD
- Assist with facility condition assessment of existing facility mechanical systems
- Review existing mechanical system designs as required when troubleshooting issues which may require an engineering solution. Make suggestions on improvements
- Review existing mechanical systems installations through field investigation when necessary
- Assist with site systems capacity planning including projected growth in loads, required systems redundancy and end of life determination. Create and maintain equipment capacity, loading and redundancy spreadsheets
- Evaluation of new systems or equipment using ROI, total cost of ownership, reliability, performance, and energy efficiency calculations along with schedule impacts
- Able to multitask and to keep project data organized and up to date
- Must be willing and able to apply and enforce WD procedures meant to maximize safety and eliminate potential environmental and health hazards while at the same time minimizing downtime impacts on our production operations, during the execution of projects. Review and approve construction task plans
- Good communicator (verbal and written) who is able to maintain a friendly and open disposition while working with cross-functional groups such as Maintenance and Operations, Environmental Health and Safety and Manufacturing, and also when working with outside personnel such as Contractors, Vendors and Consultants
