Summary

Join Oklo's fuel recycling engineering team as a Facility Design Engineer to develop balance-of-plant designs for a commercial-scale Used Nuclear Fuel (UNF) recycling facility. You will perform process analysis, generate requirements, and design and specify equipment. Collaboration with cross-functional teams and external firms is essential. Responsibilities include developing facility layouts, defining equipment specifications, managing partner firms, and overseeing building drawings. The ideal candidate possesses 5-10+ years of experience in facility design and a strong engineering background. Requirements

  • Possess 5-10+ years of experience in facility design (or heavy modification), construction, and/or industrial engineering
  • Have an engineering education, potentially Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, or Structural
  • Have experience working with large-scale manufacturing or chemical process facilities design or operation
  • Have project management and vendor management experience
  • Have experience with 2D and 3D CAD software
  • Possess broad familiarity with engineering principles, including having strong systems engineering intuition
  • Have experience with β€˜balance-of-plant’ facility design
  • Have experience with the engineering drawing types utilized for a large-scale facility

Responsibilities

  • Develop facility layouts, workflows, and infrastructure plans to optimize efficiency, safety, security and compliance
  • Define specifications, performance criteria, and requirements for facility process support equipment
  • Interact and manage partner A&E firms supporting facility development work
  • Perform project management relating to facility design
  • Create and/or oversee building drawings: architectural, P&ID, pipe routing, etc
  • Establish maintenance and reliability processes and procedures
  • Generate maintenance and reliability documentation to be included in regulatory filings

Preferred Qualifications

  • Have experience in the commercial or governmental nuclear sectors
  • Have experience designing for high reliability and extended maintenance intervals
  • Have experience with mechanized material handling systems
  • Have experience managing radioactive material
  • Have experience in facilities using a high-level of automation
  • Have experience designing equipment for high (>500 C) temperature operation
  • Have experience deploying or working on pilot plants
  • Possess a Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification
