Summary

Join LGC, a global life science tools company, as a Field Applications Scientist II and contribute to their mission of 'Science for a Safer World'. This remote position involves providing hands-on support during customer equipment installations, troubleshooting instrument and software issues, guiding customers in optimizing PCR assays, and collaborating with various teams for a seamless customer experience. You will also mentor junior scientists, contribute to application notes and presentations, and represent LGC at scientific tradeshows. This role requires a Masters or PhD in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, or a related field, proven experience in oligonucleotide synthesis, strong communication and customer service skills, proficiency with lab automation, and the ability to travel up to 50% (internationally).

Requirements

  • Ideally Masters or PhD in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics or related field
  • Proven experience in Oligonucleotide synthesis, analytical methods, and synthesis method development
  • Strong communication & customer service skills; confident troubleshooting via phone/email or in person
  • Proficient with lab automation, standard molecular biology tools & Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple customer projects independently
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel up to 50% (internationally)

Responsibilities

  • Deliver hands-on support during customer equipment installations, including assay validation & training
  • Troubleshoot instrument and software issues on-site and remotely with precision and empathy
  • Guide customers in optimizing PCR assays, nucleic acid purification, and sample workflows
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Engineering, and Product teams for seamless customer experience
  • Mentor and coach junior Field Application Scientists and share best practices
  • Contribute to application notes, presentations, and represent LGC at scientific tradeshows
