You will contribute to essential services in remote bush camp settings, working in roles such as Housekeeper, Kitchen Support, or Base Camp Services. The work involves cleaning, food preparation, and camp maintenance, requiring physical stamina and adaptability to various living conditions. Free meals and accommodations are provided, along with transportation to and from the site. Positions offer opportunities for skill development and advancement. A minimum two-week commitment is required.
Requirements
- Ability to mobilize rapidly with short notice based on active fire activity
- Comfortable working and staying in bush camp setting
- Ability to commit to a minimum 2 week rotation
- Be able to handle the following physical demands: Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs
- Climb ladders or stairs
- Stand, walk, squat, kneel or sit according to task for extended lengths of time
- Perform repetitive hand work requiring full use of both hands
- Perform work with arms at full length
- Work with arms above shoulder height
Responsibilities
- Clean washrooms, showers and common areas
- Clean floors by sweeping & mopping
- Gather and empty trash containers
- Clean windows, glass partitions and mirrors
- Making beds daily and changing linens
- Daily linen laundry
- Clean and maintain all kitchen areas of facilities as per cleaning schedules. This will include heavy equipment (hood and oven vents), dining area, floors, dish and cookware, and all areas of back of house operation
- Stock and replenish food service items such as cutlery, dishes, glasses, cups, and condiments during and after all meal periods
- Wash kitchen and service dishes
- Assist the First Cook with the unloading and storage of all supplies and groceries
- Meet daily with the First Cook to discuss menu preparation and production strategy
- Assist the First Cook in the preparation of all menu items as needed
- Follow recipes, portion controls, and presentation specifications
- Can be responsible for preparing and serving hot breakfast
- Replenish desserts and condiment stations as required
- Assist in the cleanliness and maintenance of the kitchen and serving areas
- Can be responsible for assisting with baking
- Practice correct food handling guidelines and storage procedures
- Handling, preparation, production, and timely service of breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks in accordance with approved methods and standards
- Preparing meals according to client scheduling and within the menu plan and budget guidelines
- Preparing adequate quantities of the menu choices by following all production quotas set
- Preparing food as close to consumption time as possible. Supervise all portioning of meals on serving line to ensure all clients are receiving amounts specified
- Coordinating all kitchen staff involved in the preparation and serving of meals
- Following proper storage and rotation of all food supplies
- Setting Up/Dismantling mobile infrastructure
- Maintaining and monitoring fuel levels for generators
- Ensure and maintain safe operation of the camp
- Monitor portable water tanker levels
- Collect and dispose of garbage and recycling on site
Preferred Qualifications
- Current First Aid Level 1 certification is an asset
- Large scale camp work experience is an asset
- Valid class G Drivers License with relatively clean drivers abstract is an asset
