Summary

Join Western Digital as a Fire Protection and Life Safety Systems Technician, where you will install, maintain, and repair fire protection systems, conduct regular inspections and testing, troubleshoot and resolve issues, and respond to emergency calls. You will ensure compliance with codes and standards, document all work, and educate building occupants on fire safety. The role requires a high school diploma or GED and a technical certification or associate degree. Requirements

High school diploma or GED required technical certification, associate degree in fire protection technology

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair fire protection and life safety systems, including fire alarms, sprinklers, emergency lighting, and fire extinguishers
  • Conduct regular inspections and testing of fire protection systems to ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (NFPA, OSHA, local regulations)
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve issues with fire alarm panels, smoke detectors, and other safety devices
  • Document all inspections, tests, maintenance, and repairs in compliance with regulations and company policies
  • Respond to emergency service calls and educate building occupants on fire safety procedures
  • Stay current with industry standards, new technologies, and regulatory changes
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
  • Work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

  • NICET certification preferred
  • Knowledge of NFPA codes, OSHA regulations, and local fire safety requirements
  • Experience with fire alarm panels and systems
