Summary
Join Samsara, a leader in the Connected Operations™ Cloud, as an Engineering Manager and lead teams developing impactful features for our growing customer base. You will manage a team of engineers focused on Video-Safety products, tackling complex technical challenges and driving architectural decisions. This remote position, open to Canadian residents, requires 7+ years of engineering experience, including 2+ years managing engineering teams, and proven expertise in embedded software application development. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams, foster a high-performing culture, and contribute to Samsara's continued success. Relocation assistance is not provided. Requirements
- 7+ years of engineering experience, including 2+ years managing teams of engineers
- Proven expertise in developing embedded software applications
- Proven track record of applying best practices in development, testing, and deployment, with a hands-on approach to code quality and architecture reviews
- Demonstrated ability to spearhead strategic initiatives, drive alignment across teams, and influence without direct authority
- Strong experience in project management, managing multiple projects simultaneously using agile development methods and tools
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks, and improving release processes
- Demonstrated ability to manage large-scale changes while maintaining team productivity and engagement during transitions
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Responsibilities
- Lead teams in delivering products and capabilities that contribute to Samsara’s products and revenue
- Manage a team of engineers, ensuring alignment with business objectives and optimizing team productivity
- Manage a team of engineers on our Video-Safety products, solving complex technical problems, guiding architectural decisions, improving quality, and owning key aspects of our tech stack
- Ensure long-term scalability by driving key architectural outcomes and overseeing technical solutions that support both immediate needs and future growth
- Collaborate with senior management and cross-functional teams to align technical roadmaps with product and business goals, influencing broader organizational strategies
- Foster a culture of performance and accountability by conducting regular performance reviews, addressing underperformance, and mentoring team members for growth
- Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing embedded software applications in Golang
- Experience with Atlassian tool set (e.g.; Jira, Confluence, etc.)
- Experience with network protocols (e.g.; TCP/IP, HTTP, gRPC, etc.) and wireless technologies (e.g.; Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc.)
- BS and/or MS in Computer Science or related field
