Requirements
- Plan and schedule collision repair, in multiple body shops across North America
- Understand comprehensive maintenance programs, track past due inspections and insure compliance to complete inspections after collision repairs are completed
- Understand collision repair estimating, ability to oversee multiple repairs in progress to ensure efficient and quality repair work
- Provide expertise to develop and review equipment specifications
- Establish metrics, objectives and operating expectations
- Maintain records and reports
- Build relationships, communication methods and conflict resolution
- Supervise and train subordinate personnel, where applicable
- Methods, practices, material and tools of the equipment mechanic trade
- Operating and repair characteristics of a variety of automotive and heavy equipment vehicles, trailers and equipment
- Occupational hazards and standard safety precautions necessary in the workplace
- Equipment purchasing and acquisition practices and methods
- Principles of gasoline and diesel engines, wide knowledge of chassis systems and components
- Principles and practices of supervision and training
- Fleet maintenance record keeping systems
- Principles of budget and fiscal policies
- I-CAR certification or similar automotive collision repair industry knowledge and skills. Collision damage appraisal experience, repair estimating to develop accurate damage reports, production management skills to provide oversight of repairs in process to ensure timely communication for customer service, while delivering efficient and safe collision repair
- Possession of a valid driver's license and the ability to acquire a CDL as necessary based on job requirements. Maintaining a valid driver’s license is a condition of employment
- Understanding of DOT commercial motor vehicle inspections and repair of braking systems as specified by DOT requirements
- Working knowledge of Brakes, Manual DriveTrain and Axles, Suspension and Steering, Heating and Air Conditioning, Electrical/ Electronic Systems, Engine Performance, Engine Repair, etc
- At least 10 years of experience in fleet collision maintenance or a related field, (fleet experience required; dealership experience not applicable)
- Proven expertise in reviewing and interpreting body shop estimates, including labor times and parts pricing
- Strong negotiation skills with a track record of securing favorable terms with vendors and service providers
- Ability to design and manage a nationwide network of body shops, ensuring consistent service quality and availability
- Excellent organizational problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail
- Proficient in fleet management software and Google workspace (Drive, Sheets, Slide, Docs)
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to liaise with internal teams and external partners
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Valid drivers license and willing to travel as needed
- Must be able to sit and work at a computer for long periods of time
Responsibilities
- Review and analyze body shop quotes, labor times, and parts pricing to ensure accuracy, fairness, and alignment with fleet maintenance goals
- Negotiate effectively with body shops and vendors to secure competitive pricing and timely repair services while maintaining quality standards
- Execute and manage purchase orders and or Credit card payments for invoice processing
- Develop and implement a nationwide program of trusted body shops to support fleet collision repair needs, ensuring consistency and reliability across regions
- Develop process to ensure all maintenance inspections are completed prior to returning vehicle to service
- Collaborate with fleet operations teams to prioritize repairs, minimize downtime and maintain fleet readiness
- Monitor repair progress, approve completed work, and resolve disputes or issues with body shops as needed
- Maintain detailed records of repair costs, vendor performance, and program effectiveness
- Stay updated on industry trends, repair techniques, and pricing standards to optimize fleet maintenance strategies
- Provide recommendations for process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs
- Establishes local working relationships and develops communication tools in support of the branch goals and objectives. Works closely with local leadership to provide a safe, reliable and cost effective fleet
- Observes and enforces safety regulations, provides status of projects and attends meetings and training sessions as necessary
Preferred Qualifications
ASE or state certifications are not required, but are recommended
