Freelance Motion Designer

Summary

Captions is hiring a freelance Motion Designer to work in-person at their NYC HQ. The role requires collaboration with marketing, engineering, and product design teams to build in-app visuals and assets. The ideal candidate has a degree in Design or Fine Arts, 3-7 years of professional experience as a motion designer, proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Figma, and strong project management skills.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Design, Fine Arts, Visual Effects preferred, or equivalent professional experience
• 3-7 years of professional experience as a motion designer or interaction designer

Responsibilities

Collaborate with the marketing, engineering and product design teams to build in-app visuals and assets that enhance the user experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Proven track record of creating motion graphics, titles, and animations for various platforms including digital, broadcast, and social media
• Proficiency Adobe Creative Suite (After Effects, Premier Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator) and Figma
• Experience with 2D motion design; knowledge of Lottie/ RIVE is a plus!
• Prior experience working with product or engineering teams is preferred
• Strong grasp of design, composition, typography, and layout principles
• Efficient project management in a fast paced, high volume environment
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
