Join Fetch as a Front-end Engineering Apprentice and build world-class web applications for customers and partners. You'll work on a small, multi-functional team, tackling challenging problems and designing amazing, user-centric solutions. This full-time role can be performed from a US office or remotely within the United States. The position involves building features, creating responsive designs, and reducing technical debt. Success requires strong JavaScript, React, and Svelte skills, along with experience in front-end styling and application state management. This is a 12-16 week fixed-term apprenticeship.
Requirements
- Extensive experience building web applications using JavaScript and proficiency in TypeScript
- Experience with React and Svelte frameworks
- Experience with front-end styling and layout languages (e.g. CSS, HTML, Sass, Less)
- A solid foundation of functional and/or object-oriented programming
- Experience with design system implementation
- Experience with application state management
- Experience with version control systems (e.g. Git)
- Effective communication, including the ability to translate and explain technical issues to non-technical team members
- Ability to work full-time (40 hours per week) from either the Chicago or Madison Fetch office for a fixed term of 12-16 weeks
- While a degree is not required for this position, the apprenticeship program is not intended for students who are actively enrolled in a full-time, degree-seeking program. In order to be eligible for this program, full-time students must be within one month of their anticipated graduation date
Responsibilities
- Tackle challenging and ambiguous problems requiring the right balance of product design and technology while weighing both short and long term tradeoffs
- Build and implement features ranging from those with highly specific wireframes and designs to barebones ideas which can require generating an MVP and ongoing iterations
- Create responsive designs to ensure a consistent and seamless user experience across devices
- Reduce technical debt by optimizing poor-performing code, writing quality tests, and creating clear documentation
Benefits
This is a nonexempt role with a rate of $50/ hour
