Summary
Join VetsEZ as a remote Full Stack Java Developer to contribute to a Department of Veterans Affairs project. The ideal candidate possesses strong front-end and back-end development expertise. Responsibilities include designing, developing, and implementing high-quality software solutions. You will collaborate with various teams and stakeholders throughout the development lifecycle. The position requires proficiency in Java, Java EE, Spring, and related technologies, as well as experience with front-end frameworks and databases. The role also involves Agile methodologies and secure coding practices. This is a remote opportunity.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- Proven experience as a Full Stack Developer and Tech Lead, with a strong track record of managing development teams and mentoring junior developers
- Proficient in Java, Java EE, Spring framework, Python (including Django or Flask), HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SQL, and object-oriented programming
- Hands-on experience with front-end frameworks (ReactJS or Angular), databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB), and version control systems like Git
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to tackle complex technical challenges independently
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration with technical and non-technical stakeholders
Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable applications using Java, Java EE, Spring, and related technologies
- Build responsive front-end interfaces using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and frameworks like React or Angular
- Develop and maintain backend services, APIs, and databases using Java 17, Python, SQL, and PostgreSQL
- Collaborate with analysts, QA, and stakeholders to ensure integration and functionality
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, ensuring smooth execution and delivery
- Conduct code reviews and ensure high standards for code quality and performance
- Create and maintain documentation including user stories, sprint backlogs, and release notes
- Apply Agile and SAFe methodologies, and perform testing using tools like JUnit, Playwright, and Cypress
- Implement secure coding practices and address vulnerabilities throughout the development cycle
- Take on additional tasks and responsibilities as needed to support team objectives and ensure the success of the project
Preferred Qualifications
- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to solve complex technical problems
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively interact with team members and stakeholders
- Experience with SAFe/Agile
- Ability to obtain a government clearance
