Full Stack Software Engineer

Summary

Join Stack's Remote Assist team and accelerate the delivery of our self-driving system, increasing on-time freight arrival and improving autonomous truck behavior. We develop tools for human operators to remotely assist the self-driving system in complex situations. This is a full-stack role involving complex user interfaces, scalable cloud infrastructure, live video streaming, new autonomy capabilities, and system integrations. You will own the operator tooling and cloud infrastructure, working closely with various teams. Regular travel to Pittsburgh headquarters is required for vehicle and test track work. The team is described as dynamic and pragmatic, with the ability to significantly impact company success.

Requirements

• BS in Computer Science or closely related field
• 7+ years of software engineering experience
• Experience owning the development of web applications
• Experience with React, Typescript, and modern front-end development
• Experience building interactive tools as webapps
• Experience with Go or similar server-side language
• Experience with containerized solutions such as Docker, Tilt, Kubernetes, etc
• Strong and proven teamwork and collaboration skills

Responsibilities

• Own the operator tooling and cloud infrastructure for the Remote Assist system, including the specification, design, development, rigorous testing, performance optimization and maintenance of our web application, and heavily influence the entire end-to-end Remote Assist system
• Founding member of an uncommonly broad end-to-end team that includes front end, cloud, and robotics engineers working together on a single product
• Excited to work across our entire codebase and sees it as positive to contribute to front end, cloud, and even sometimes onboard C++ code on the robot
• Partner closely with the Director of Remote Assistance and partner teams including design, fleet monitoring engineering, infrastructure engineering, etc
• Take part in on-call rotations
• Travel to our headquarters in Pittsburgh regularly to spend time in our test vehicles, with our operations center, and on our test track

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with live video streaming systems, WebRTC
• Experience with gRPC and Protobufs
• Experience with AV / Robotics products
