Summary

Join The Lifetime Value Co. as a Genealogy Project Manager and play a key role in expanding our presence in the genealogy and family history market. You will analyze data assets, create publication specifications, collaborate with engineering and QA teams, and manage content lifecycle tasks. This position involves pre-publication data analysis, data correction and normalization, data digitization, content lifecycle management, and content strategy. You will review genealogical datasets, identify and correct errors, oversee digitization processes, and develop metadata. Collaboration with various teams is essential, as is staying updated on genealogical trends. The ideal candidate will have a background in family history and genealogy, experience with historical record preparation, and skills in data processing and automation.

Requirements

  • B.A. in Family History & Genealogy or 1 to 2 years experience in genealogical research and methods including paleograph and source document analysis
  • At least 1 year of experience in compiling and preparing historical records for genealogy projects
  • Ability to learn or experience in automating tasks in text processing systems using regular expressions and scripting languages
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal
  • Strong problem solving and interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a diverse team as well as work independently

Responsibilities

  • Review incoming genealogical datasets for completeness and relevance
  • Determine processing requirements for various content types
  • Support data intake tracking and documentation
  • Efficiently review records to identify errors, inconsistencies, and duplicates
  • Perform data cleaning tasks, including standardizing date formats and place names using controlled vocabularies and authority files
  • Participate in quality assurance tasks on genealogical data and ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Create data transcription requirement documents and interface with 3rd party vendors
  • Oversee the digitization of records, including scanning, image optimization, and file management
  • Ensure adherence to digitization standards and best practices in ongoing projects
  • Develop and maintain metadata for genealogy data collections
  • Perform content publication tasks and coordinate with dependent teams including engineering, quality assurance, marketing, support, and legal
  • Stay informed about genealogical trends and emerging sources of genealogical data
  • Assist in researching and proposing new avenues for acquiring genealogical data to enhance our offerings
