Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with the state bar association
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of legal experience, with a combination of law firm and in-house experience preferred
  • Strong background in technology, healthcare, healthcare IT, intellectual property, regulatory compliance, and experience with Professional Corporation structures in medical and healthcare contexts
  • Experience with insurance qualifications, including knowledge of insurance laws and regulations, risk assessment, policy and contract reviews, and a proven track record of successfully managing insurance-related legal matters, negotiating insurance contracts, and claims resolution
  • Proven experience managing and leading legal and risk and compliance teams
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to evolving business needs
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the company's overall legal strategy to support business objectives and growth
  • Provide expert legal advice and counsel to senior leadership on a broad range of legal issues
  • Manage corporate governance matters, including board meetings, corporate policies, and compliance with relevant regulations
  • Stay current with relevant industry regulations and laws impacting the mental health tech sector
  • Develop and maintain compliance programs to ensure adherence to applicable regulations and standards
  • Manage the company's intellectual property portfolio, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets
  • Identify potential legal risks and develop strategies to mitigate them
  • Oversee litigation matters and work with external counsel as needed
  • Provide guidance on data protection and privacy laws, ensuring compliance with data privacy regulations
  • Collaborate with relevant teams to implement and maintain robust data security practices
  • Advise the Quality and Compliance teams, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and executive team members to provide legal insights and support for various business initiatives
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements
