Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, plus at least four (4) years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience in full-stack development with modern web technologies
- Proficiency in React, Node.js, TypeScript, and Express.js
- Experience working with Drupal, GraphQL, PostgreSQL, or similar technologies
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and CI/CD pipelines
- Strong understanding of web security best practices and performance optimization
- Experience working in Agile development environments with cross-functional teams
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain full-stack web applications supporting VA.gov’s facilities and public website
- Build and optimize React-based front-end components and integrate with Drupal-powered backends
- Develop and maintain RESTful and GraphQL APIs for seamless data exchange
- Support cloud infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines to enhance system performance and deployment efficiency
- Implement and maintain accessibility standards (Section 508, WCAG 2.2 AA) to ensure compliance
- Collaborate with UX researchers, designers, and content teams to create intuitive digital experiences
- Participate in Agile sprints, code reviews, technical discussions, and knowledge-sharing
- Other relevant duties for which you are qualified and trained
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with federal digital services, civic tech, or government projects
- Familiarity with Next.js, Metalsmith, or other VA.gov technologies
- Experience with DevOps practices and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Background in site performance optimization and security hardening for large-scale web applications
