Summary

Join National Power as a Generator Service Technician in Stockton, CA! Reporting to the Broadband Service Manager, you will maintain and repair generator sets and electrical equipment. Responsibilities include performing various levels of maintenance and repair, troubleshooting, and load bank testing. You will also assist other technicians and provide reports on job status. This remote position requires extensive travel, including overnight stays, and a valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Requirements

  • Have a HS Diploma
  • Have excellent communication skills
  • Have an excellent driving record
  • Have a valid driver’s license
  • Have good computer skills and be comfortable with Microsoft software to include Internet Explorer, Word, Excel, and Adobe (PDF’s)
  • Pass a criminal background check
  • Pass a pre-employment drug screen
  • Pass a Department of Transportation physical examination

Responsibilities

  • Perform various types and levels of maintenance and repair on generators and parallel systems ranging from 5-5000kw
  • Troubleshooting and repair of Automatic Transfer Switches, to include bypass isolation, and closed transition types as well
  • Repairs will include performing preventative maintenance service (oil and filters), troubleshooting AC and DC circuits, removing and replacing any and all components as necessary, performing warranty work per manufacturer’s guidelines, performing start-up/commissioning on new generators and generator systems
  • Perform diesel or gaseous engine troubleshooting and repair to include but not limited to ignition components, injection systems, valve adjustments etc
  • Perform load bank testing on generator(s) to ensure units are in the proper operating conditions and meet applicable code requirements
  • Assist other technicians with large multi-person jobs, or troubleshooting complicated issues
  • Provide verbal/written reports of job status, repair recommendations, equipment/supplies needed
  • Account for time spent on jobs and travel
  • Ensure proper vehicle maintenance is performed
  • Maintain required parts inventory
  • Ensure security of Company property to include cell phone, laptop computer, specialty tools and any other item assigned
  • Manage difficult or emotional customer situations
  • Respond promptly to customer needs
  • Solicit customer feedback to improve service
  • Respond to requests for service and assistance
  • Meet commitments
  • Demonstrate good problem-solving during emergency situations or situations with limited resources
  • Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness
  • Look for ways to improve and promote quality
  • Apply feedback to improve performance
  • Monitor own work to ensure quality and safety

Preferred Qualifications

  • Have an Associate degree in an electrical/mechanical related field
  • Have a current Generac Power Systems certification
  • Have US Air Force Electrical Power Production Specialist, US Navy Electrician’s Mate, or Generator and/or UPS field service technician experience
