As a GIS Application & Database Developer, you will work remotely to design, develop, and maintain advanced geospatial tools and databases. This role requires a strong background in GIS development, database architecture, and application design, with 6-10 years of relevant experience. You will be responsible for the full lifecycle development of GIS tools, including project planning, requirements gathering, implementation, testing, and quality control. Requirements

  • BS/BA in GIS, Geography, Cartography, Computer Science or other related field
  • Middle level shall have at least 6 years and senior level shall have at least 10 years of experience in GIS and related development
  • Experience in GIS concepts, computer graphics fundamentals, and relational database fundamentals and concepts is essential
  • Must have experience in the development of complex analysis and mapping projects
  • Must be proficient in the coding of software and manipulating digital databases as well as using GIS programming languages, Internet markup languages, and other, pertinent technologies
  • Must have the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical computer users, both orally and in writing
  • Due to the nature of the work we support, all candidates in consideration for this role must be U.S. Citizens willing to undergo the government issued background investigation process

Responsibilities

  • Full-time support
  • Staff in this category work independently to develop GIS tools and applications, perform complex analyses, and develop multi-layered maps accomplished by using an appropriate combination of tools found in the GIS application suite and other programming environments
  • Design and implement data conversion procedures and perform software and database quality control
  • Work closely with the GIS user community to determine specific application requirements and specifications
  • Perform project planning, requirements analysis, database design and development, and quality assurance and quality control
  • All other duties as assigned
