Summary

Join the Leadership Academy of Utah (LAU) as a part-time, remote Math Tutor! This position, based in the US with a preference for Utah residents, runs from August 1, 2025, to May 22, 2026. You will work with students in grades 6-12, providing individualized support and instruction in various math subjects. The role requires strong communication and organizational skills, along with the ability to adapt to a remote learning environment. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in math
  • Demonstrated knowledge of a wide range of mathematic subject areas, including Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Geometry, Algebra II, Precalculus
  • Proven work experience with educational staff, students, and their families
  • Proven integrity, professionalism, and sound judgment
  • Adept at multitasking and working with multiple students at the same time
  • Demonstrated organizational skills; able to gather, organize, and communicate student data clearly
  • Ability to respond effectively to the needs of diverse students and families
  • Flexible - comfortable adapting to new responsibilities as the role develops
  • Student-Centered - Genuinely invested in supporting student growth and well-being
  • Team-Oriented - Collaborates well with educators, families, and support staff
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Growth-Minded - Open to learning and evolving with the needs of the program
  • Computer experience with the ability to adapt and learn various platforms, including Canvas, Zoom, G-Suite, and other online supports
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others
  • Authorization to work in the United States and the ability to pass a background check

Responsibilities

  • Develop students’ skills and competence in the principles and application of math
  • Teach knowledge and skills in a variety of math concepts, including Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Geometry, Algebra II, and Precalculus
  • Provide individualized support to students
  • Correct student work and provide positive, constructive feedback
  • Promote a positive learning environment
  • Create and maintain a safe environment that promotes learning in a remote small-group or individual setting
  • Actively encourage, motivate, and engage students during the tutoring session
  • Manage student behavior to create a positive environment that optimizes learning
  • Organize and maintain daily notes for student support and achievement during tutoring
  • Report on student progress
  • Other Duties as Assigned
